Alex is sort of high and exhausted as he leans into the hot spray of the shower. They won, which pleases him immensely. It was a hard-fought victory too and that’s what makes it even better. He’s coherent enough to mumble something into the receiver when he finally picks it up, but not awake enough to realize that there’s another body in the bed with him.
